AN ABSTRACT AFFAIR

“The painting has a life of its own. I try to let it come through.  It doesn't make much difference how the paint is put on as long as something has been said. Technique is just a means of arriving at a statement. Painting is self-discovery. Every good artist paints what he is.”

- Jackson Pollock

Born in 1954 Thakurgaon, Mohammed Eunus has wandered far afield, establishing himself as a leading authority of abstract art, and specifically abstract expressionism, in Bangladesh. Comparing the characteristics of his works to that of a poem having a million metaphors, Eunus states that his paintings “come alive with universal energy that is immediately felt by an observer”. Seeking inspiration from anything and everything: from inane, discarded objects to nature and entire cities to personal experiences of his own and those he comes across – Eunus’ paintings are deeply observant and always contemplative of current times.

Edge has invited to a journey of great emotional intensity, of gallantry and hypnotic imaginings. Those of you familiar with the groundbreaking works of Pollock, Kandinsky, Mohammed Kibria and Murtaza Baseer will surely appreciate the accomplishment of this skilled exponent of Abstract Expressionism.  We bring to you the highly acclaimed Mohammed Eunus and his contemplations.

Exhibition Dates: 31 March – 8 April 2017
