Tufted yarn and intricately stitched threads sprawl
across a raw, neutral canvas, transforming a
microscopic view of tree bark into a vibrant,
maximalist island of texture. Suriyea Rahman builds
a rich, organic topography using a striking palette
of ultramarine, ochre, lavender, sage, and vivid
orange to mirror nature’s cellular structures.

Different fiber techniques including looped tufts,
fine embroidery, and concentric thread rings
interlock and drift outward like lichen and moss
growing over wood. By magnifying a tiny patch of
the forest floor into a bold relief, the artwork turns
the hidden, quiet geometry of the natural world
into a dynamic, tactile universe.
