BIPASHA HAYAT
Bipasha Hayat’s practice is rooted in an introspective engagement with memory, solitude, nature, and the emotional dimensions of everyday life. Working primarily in painting, drawing, and mixed media, she develops poetic compositions through expressive lines, muted tonalities, and layered surfaces. Her visual language often moves between abstraction and figuration, allowing fragments of landscape, human presence, and remembered spaces to emerge as contemplative reflections on time, identity, and the inner self.
Born in Dhaka in 1971, Bipasha Hayat studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Dhaka, where she completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. She later pursued her artistic practice alongside a career in theatre and television, gradually establishing painting as an important part of her creative expression. Her multidisciplinary background has informed a deeply personal approach to image-making, where gesture, atmosphere, and emotion take precedence over literal representation.
Hayat has exhibited her paintings extensively in Bangladesh and internationally through solo and group exhibitions. Her works have been presented at prominent galleries and cultural institutions, including exhibitions in Bangladesh, India, the United States, and other international venues. Her practice has received recognition for its distinctive emotional vocabulary and its ability to translate personal experience into open-ended visual narratives.
Her works are held in numerous private collections in Bangladesh and abroad. Through her sustained engagement with painting and drawing, Bipasha Hayat has developed a distinctive position within contemporary Bangladeshi art, creating works that invite quiet contemplation while remaining deeply connected to memory, place, and lived experience.
