NUR MUNJERIN RIMJHIM
Nur Munjerin Rimjhim’s practice moves between meticulous pen-and-ink drawing and expressive acrylic painting, examining the intersections of memory, heritage, identity, and contemporary life. Her highly detailed architectural drawings document Bangladesh’s historic buildings with remarkable precision, serving as visual records of cultural heritage threatened by neglect and urban transformation. Alongside these works, her paintings explore the emotional landscapes of women through symbolic imagery and layered compositions, reflecting on themes of identity, resilience, belonging, and lived experience.
Born in Naogaon, Bangladesh, in 1996, Nur Munjerin Rimjhim completed both her Bachelor of Fine Arts and Master of Fine Arts in Drawing and Painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Dhaka, graduating in 2020. Since the beginning of her career, she has established a distinctive artistic language that bridges documentary observation with expressive storytelling. In addition to her studio practice, she has also contributed as a curator, fostering dialogue around contemporary art and cultural preservation.
Rimjhim has exhibited extensively through solo and group exhibitions in Bangladesh and internationally. Her acclaimed solo exhibition Rhythm of Concrete at the EMK Center in 2023 showcased her ongoing engagement with architectural heritage. She has also participated in numerous exhibitions, including the 25th National Art Exhibition (2023), 23rd National Young Art Exhibition (2022), multiple editions of Berger Young Artists Exhibition, 9+ONE: Interdimensional Journeys Part II at Edge Gallery (2025), and Colors of Bangladesh in Australia (2025), among many others. Her practice has earned her several awards and recognitions for both her academic and post-academic achievements.
Her works are held in significant public and private collections, including Bangladesh Bank, the Bangladesh Bank Taka Museum, Rajshahi City Corporation, Sarak Bhaban (RHD Head Office), and numerous private collections in Bangladesh and abroad.
