World Earth Day 2026
Edge, The Foundation, in collaboration with Shwapno Youth Development Organization, commemorated World Earth Day 2026 through the event “One Earth, One Art”, held on April 22, 2026, at Edge Gallery.
The program began with a panel discussion focused on youth-led environmental action and the role of art and culture in activism. The panel consisted of five members: Masuma Moriom, Founder of Shwapno Youth Development Organization and National Consultant at UNESCO Dhaka; Shobuj Sultan Anmon, Manager of Edge Gallery and Program Coordinator at Edge The Foundation; Samiha Saleha, Research Officer (LLA) at the International Centre for Climate Change and Development (ICCCAD); Sadia Tasnim, Environment and Development Practitioner; and Puja Basak, Gallery Coordinator at Edge Gallery.
The conversation brought together artists, activists, and young voices from different backgrounds, highlighting a shared belief that environmental responsibility cannot be postponed. It also emphasized the role cultural spaces can play in encouraging awareness, dialogue, and collective engagement.
Following this, participants collaboratively created a large artwork using recycled and upcycled materials, turning the process itself into a statement on sustainability, shared responsibility, and collective action. The final work reflected a quiet but unified expression of care for the planet.
Set against the backdrop of Bangladesh’s climate vulnerability, the initiative highlighted the growing need to connect environmental advocacy with creative practice. Though small in scale, One Earth, One Art demonstrated how cultural spaces can move beyond observation to active engagement.
Ultimately, the event stood as a reminder that meaningful environmental change begins when dialogue turns into collective action.
